Cameo Cupcakes finalists in National Cupcake Competition.

Cameo Cupcakes has been selected to be finalists in the National Cupcake competition and we are very excited about the prospect of meeting all the other cupcakers. All three of our entries are being considered and we shall be having them available in the shop soon.We spend a lot of time developing our flavours to ensure that they are the best they could be. To the critics who claim that you can not perfect lots of flavours let us just say, it’s no big deal .

The first entry in the gluten free category is our Choc Cherry Mud.  It is made with Belgian chocolate and the finest cocoa, has a chewy texture from the cherries and a hint of almond flavour with a chocolate mud buttercream topping.

The next entry in the innovative category is our Malt Salted Caramel. This is a vanilla sponge which has been filled with salted caramel and topped with malt flavoured buttercream and crushed malted milk biscuits.

The final entry under best presented is our fruity Raspberry and Rhubarb cupcake. Made with fresh raspberries and rhubarb this wonderful cake has the combination of tart and sweet to give a delightful flavour combination.

Cameo and Cake Decor to merge

We are very excited to announce that Cameo Cupcakes and Cake Decor are getting a fabulous new home!

Mid July we will be moving about 20m away to Number 9, Theatre Walk, Derby (just near the Derby Playhouse Theatre in the Eagle Centre).  You can see the new shop from outside our old one. We are moving because Cake Decor’s owners, who also own Cameo Cupcakes, want to combine the two businesses.  There will be a small cupcake bakery on site to the rear of the shop and a viewing window into the bakery area where you can watch us making cakes and maybe catch Margaret making some lovely sugary things! Margaret and Michelle are working on a particularly special and impressive display cake that they hope you will enjoy looking at. It’s very big and has taken many many hours of work, so please come and have a look around when we open.

The front of the shop will house all our cake decorating items etc. along with a cupcake counter and lots of display celebration cakes for you to look at. We are permitted to trade on Sundays if we wish and because of the new location, wheelchair access is available, no step!

Cupcake and sugarcraft workshops

We are now offering cupcake and sugarcraft workshops. They will be held in Derby City Centre for 2-3 hours on Saturdays and some weekdays, see ‘Workshops’ in the shop for more information.

During March every cupcake sold gives a donation

During the month of March we made a donation from every cupcake sold to the “Cupcake Break” appeal. This was in support of the Ovarian Cancer Action group. More details available here. We are pleased to announce that we raised £140 so thank you very much to all our customers.
